Madeleine Snow is a director and creative collaborator who is passionate about reimagining ways for contemporary audiences to engage with classical music. She has enjoyed directing site-specific performances and collaborating with living composers, including Ricky Ian Gordon and Ben Moore, and she directed the world premiere of Joshua Hershfield’s critically acclaimed rock musical Rise. A 2024-26 Studio Artist in the Marion Roose Pullin Arizona Opera Studio and 2026 Directing Fellow at Wolf Trap Opera, Madeleine has recently worked on productions at PAC NYC, Palm Beach Opera, Opera Colorado, Central City Opera, Boulder Opera, Loveland Opera Theatre, Eastman Opera Theatre, Rochester Philharmonic, Rochester Summer Opera, Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Harvard College Opera.

Madeleine was thrilled to join the 2024-2025 Marion Roose Pullin Arizona Opera Studio, where she staged immersive, outdoor performances of Mozart’s The Secret Gardener (La finta giardiniera), directed and choreographed the Studio Cabaret, and assistant directed productions of La bohème and Aida.

2023 American Prize in Directing.

In December 2023, Madeleine won second place in the 2023 American Prize in Directing—The Charles Nelson Reilly Prize, for her innovative interpretation of Cavalli's La Calisto with Eastman Opera Theatre. Learn more about the award here.
